Emma-Maye's Adventures

Words cannot express how grateful Willow, and I are for the 12 years we were blessed to be Emma-Maye's parents. Emma was the strongest young woman that we had the honor of knowing. 

Emma had the ability to touch the hearts of anyone she met. Her kindness was like wildflowers spreading to all those around her. She was always the person you went to when you needed to be lifted up with joy. She was also a fighter, constantly defying all odds throughout her two-and-a-half-year journey fighting cancer. Even in the end she took charge and ran the show. Her Medical Team became like a second family, always so surprised and impressed with her strength and willpower. They would constantly say “Emma is going to do what Emma is going to do.”

Emma was born an old soul; she had a way of recognizing emotions in herself and others that was beyond all ages. She was able to recognize when someone needed to be comforted and always put the feelings of others above herself. Even in the end she was always taking care of others. Above all Emma loved and cherished her sisters, the three of them were best friends. Three princesses that took amazing adventures together. 

A standout memory for me that captures the essence of Emma was when she was four and her bunny passed away. After burying her bunny, we were standing over the grave, where she grabbed my hand and told me "Daddy it hurts now, but I know one day I'll be okay." She had a gift, and I feel honored and so grateful to be her dad.

Emma was a believer in Christ, anytime she was feeling good enough she would ask to go to church. She had a loving relationship with Jesus and through the love she held she knew, and we know, that we will all see each other again. Although she has left this world that doesn't mean her name won't continue touching hearts.

Emma was a light in a dark place and never stopped smiling. We all will always love and miss our baby girl.
